Christ Centered Discipleship (CCD)

In 2019, Saint Wendelin sought to redesign religious education from a strictly classroom and content model to whole-community catechesis. On Sundays, this whole-community catechesis model of learning brings together people of all ages to learn from each other by meaningful conversations about topics of faith. Christ Centered Discipleship (CCD) builds on the promises made at a child’s baptism, that parents are the first and best teachers of the faith to their children. Sessions are a vital means of helping parents pass on the faith to their children. Growing in the faith and interpersonal relationship with the Lord is a lifelong process. Children especially need the example, support and encouragement of their parents on this journey of life.

Christ Centered Discipleship (CCD) is a place for families to become what they were created by God to be! The goal of this program is to empower parents to become models of faith for their children so that their homes might be places where children are formed to become the saints they were created to be!

The Christ Centered Discipleship program has 3 main components this year:
1) ALIVE: Family Faith Formation weekly family videos.
2) Monthly Full Community Sunday Gatherings with age-appropriate learning, family discussion, and community prayer (and food!)*
3) Monthly Encounter Opportunities – opportunities to encounter the living God through prayer, worship, and the Holy Spirit in the context of community!

*Please note that the monthly full community Sunday gatherings will not begin until at least January, or until COVID restrictions have been lifted and we are again able to gather safely as a full community. Until that time, we will be using Sunday mornings to gather in smaller groups for grade-specific sacramental preparation.
