“I rejoice heartily in the LORD, in my God is the joy of my soul.” Is 61:10
At St. Wendelin Catholic School we strive to live by these words of the Prophet Isaiah. There is a great spirit of JOY within our school community, and we know that this kind of joy comes only from a spirit of gratitude and deep trust in God! The most important goal at St. Wendelin Catholic School is to develop faith-filled leaders who take seriously the call to become saints! The Catholic Faith is incorporated into all that we do at St. Wendelin in order to teach our students to Put First Things First and make heaven their aim, above all else!
  • Weekly Mass
Students attend Mass weekly and on all Holy Days of Obligation at the Parish. Weekly Mass offers each student the unique opportunity hear the Word of God and to encounter Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist and to receive Him into his or her heart!
  • Liturgical Ministries
All students grades K-8 have the opportunity to serve in various capacities at Mass each week. Student leaders lead prayer before and after Mass and serve as altar servers, lectors and gift bearers.
  • First Thursday Eucharistic Adoration
All classes grades K-8 take time out of their day to gather in the school chapel on the first Thursday of every month for Eucharistic Adoration. Students spend quiet time in prayer praying the rosary, reflecting on the themes of the liturgical season, and listening to our Lord speak to them in the silence of their hearts.
  • School Wide Retreats
Students participate in school wide retreats during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Penance services are also held during these seasons where students have the opportunity to go to Confession. Individual classes may also participate in retreats throughout the year as preparation for a Sacrament.
  • Family Groups
Students gather in Family Groups – small communities of faith made up of students from each grade level – once a week to reflect on the day’s Mass readings and/or Feast Day, to relate one of the 7 Habits to what they heard at Mass that day, and to participate in fun activities which aim at fostering the Habits in the students’ own lives.
  • Prayer Pal program
Each student at St. Wendelin Catholic School is paired with a parishioner who has volunteered to pray for that student by name for the entire year! Parishioners are asked, most importantly, to keep their student in prayer, but may also write short notes of encouragement and send small gifts to let them know that they are loved by our Lord! Prayer Pals remain secret throughout the year until the last day of school when students and parishioners meet at the Closing of the School Year Mass & Picnic.
  • Visits from Father!
Students enjoy weekly classroom visits from Father Todd! Fr. Todd visits the classrooms to discuss interesting topics about religion, current events, and/or recent school events with the students. They love welcoming him into their classrooms!
  • Stewardship Opportunities
All students grades K-8 have the opportunity to get involved in stewardship projects throughout the year. These may include (but are not limited to) food drives, making and delivering cards to those in the nursing home or the hospital, or visiting local charitable organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House. Junior High students visit Fostoria Intermediate School weekly to volunteer their time to read with younger students as part of the Project MORE program.
