Kindergarten introduces young children to a school environment.  It lays the groundwork for learning in later grades.  A 2010 Minnesota Department of Education study found that children who were able to successfully complete kindergarten were twice as likely to exceed both reading and math standards on third grade state standardized tests. At Saint Wendelin Catholic School we are committed to providing each student with a solid foundation, instilling in them a passion for life-long learning.
Kindergarten is a pivotal year for language development. At Saint Wendelin Catholic School, we encourage our students to take part in conversations and share stories, engaging their abilities to be active participants in their education and solidifying communication skills that will enable them to succeed.
Young children’s brains are developing rapidly.  Our Kindergarten program provides
students with the tools necessary to learn how to focus on activities.  In Kindergarten, your student will develop their learning skills and make connections that will allow them to succeed socially and academically. They will have the opportunity to practice patience and perseverance, preparing your child for success in school and in life.

“Teaching at SWCS is so much more than a teaching job. I have an opportunity to nurture the faith of our students.  I feel called to instill in them a love of learning, while fostering a love of God, neighbors, and all of creation.” ~ Mrs. Linda Shetzer, Kindergarten Teacher
